In a time that does not seem to be asking for it, the exhibition, Melancholy, Poetry of the Mind, embraces the concept of melancholy as a starting point for creativity and an impulse for poetry and meditation. Melancholy, sorrow, and wistfulness, is shown in all its contemporary facets, with the void that could or could not be filled as a central notion. The exhibition takes place in the Adornes Domain in Bruges, with a work by Renato Nicolodi in the fifteenth century Jerusalem Chapel. At the location where the mausoleums of Anselm Adornes and his wife, Margareta van der Banck stood, Renato Nicolodi placed the work Assenza Presente. Made in synthetic resin, the sculpture refers to the present absence, the being of emptiness.
