Kimsooja wins Fukuoka Prize 2024
We are pleased to announce that Kimsooja wins the 34th Fukuoka Prize 2024, in the Arts and Culture category. The prize, awarded by the Japanese eponymous city and the Fukuoka City International Foundation, honours outstanding work by individuals or organisations in preserving or creating Asian culture. As the award announces, ‘Her artistic techniques lead us to a grand view of the universe and universal truths, and make us aware of the harmony and balance in the world. (…) In the current era, where separation and conflict are becoming more widespread, Kimsooja's magnificent art makes us aware once more of the workings of all things in nature, and the harmony and balance of the world. For her ceaseless efforts and creativity, she is truly worthy of the Arts and Culture Prize.’
