New exhibitions opening at Kanaal

News content

Axel Vervoordt Gallery is pleased to open two new exhibitions at Kanaal on Saturday February 27, 2021.

The Patio Gallery will host Showcase Lucia Bru. This presentation is a second iteration of a concept Lucia Bru developed during the artist’s first solo exhibition at Axel Vervoordt Gallery’s Hong Kong location. We gladly present this body of work at Kanaal, in order to allow the European audience to experience these new works. The showcase shows a series of new sculptural works and a video installation, which create a dialogue between the objects and the surrounding space.
This exhibition can be visited until April 3, 2021.

At the same time, the exhibition Jef Verheyen 1955-1962, Antwerpen-Düsseldorf-Milano opens in the Terrace Gallery. This exhibition presents a wide selection of early works by Jef Verheyen and his international friends. The late 1950s – early 1960s marks an exciting period for the avant-garde art scene in Europe. Cities like Antwerp, Düsseldorf, and Milan were meeting places for artists such as Jef Verheyen, Yves Klein, Günther Uecker, Lucio Fontana, and Piero Manzoni who aimed to explore artistic boundaries, while their friendships intensified.

Kanaal is open on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
