Moving Stories

Museum Het Valkhof, Nijmegen, The Netherlands

10 February to 29 May

Participating artists: Tudor Bratu, Ni Haifeng, Nicoline van Harskamp, Patricia Kaersenhout, Kimsooja, Susanne Khalil Yusef, Bouchra Khalili, Narges Mohammadi, Otobong Nkanga, Antonis Pittas, Mayra Sérgio, Mounira Al Solh, Jennifer Tee.

The exhibition Moving Stories connects the history of the Limes, the ancient border of the Roman Empire, with the present, and shows archaeological objects and contemporary artworks that deal with the narrative of migration and the varied reasons why people change their place of residence. Kimsooja will show five works from her well-known Bottari series, as well as Cities On The Move: 2727 Kilometres Bottari Truck, Korea (1997), a video that is the result of an eleven-day performance in which she visited places with her bottari truck that play an important role in her personal biography. By allowing us to follow her perspective, we can broaden our own.
