We are pleased to announce the participation of Bosco Sodi in the Casa Wabi Pavilion at the 16th Gwangju Biennale, on view in Gwangju, South Korea, from September 5 through November 15, 2026.
Led by Singaporean artist and filmmaker Ho Tzu Nyen, this year’s Biennale is titled You Must Change Your Life, taking inspiration from the final line of Rainer Maria Rilke’s poem Archaic Torso of Apollo. With Change and Practice at its core, the Biennale considers how transformation operates across bodies, systems, and environments, and how sustained artistic practice can cultivate the capacity to redirect the forces shaping our world.
For the Casa Wabi Pavilion, presented at the historic House of Lee Jang-Woo, Sodi will present Gold Rain, an installation comprising more than 400 volcanic stone sculptures finished with 22-karat gold. Approaching architecture as a living body and exploring the relationship between space and matter, Sodi reflects on nature, time, materiality, and transformation through one of the recurring materials at the heart of his practice.
