Ida Barbarigo - Works 1940-2015
刊物简介
Axel Vervoordt Gallery is proud to announce the release of a remarkable new publication dedicated to the Italian artist Ida Barbarigo (1920–2018), a powerful figure in 20th-century art who devoted her life entirely to painting: "I painted my whole life. I didn’t live. But at least I made paintings."
Born into a family of artists – the Cadorins- and shaped between Venice and Paris, Barbarigo developed a deeply personal and expressive visual language. Her work – spanning decades and series such as the Chairs, Wanderings, Herms, Sphinxes, and Earthlings – explores human fragility and strength, capturing the mystery of the inner world with rare intensity.
This book accompanies the retrospective exhibition at the Museo Eremitani in Padua, Italy and marks the first major institutional tribute since her passing. The essays by curator Dr. Daniela Ferretti and by Virginia Baradel offer an in-depth look at her legacy as an artist who continually redefined her place within modern art.
