The Zurich Room, Works and Studio
刊物简介
This publication presents the important exhibition of the same name held in Gorizia, marking both a symbolic and tangible “homecoming” for Zoran Mušič. The region, a crossroads of peoples, languages, intertwined histories, and converging cultures, reflects the layered identity that the artist experienced, internalised, and transformed into art.
Through Mušič’s work, the exhibition also offered a portrait of Friuli Venezia Giulia today: a region that looks towards Venice, the Serenissima that shaped its history for centuries, while also opening itself to Mitteleuropa, with which it shares a common heritage and a cultural vision rooted in dialogue.
It is precisely this dual sense of belonging, Adriatic and Danubian, that shaped an artist capable of making painting speak through the language of memory, suffering, and beauty. Twenty years after his passing, the project curated by Daniela Ferretti restores not only Mušič’s work, but also the intimate and vibrant atmosphere of his studio and the celebrated “Zurich Room”: a symbol of an art that transcends time and place to become a universal testimony.
The publication guides the reader through the full arc of Mušič’s artistic journey, bringing together more than one hundred works that reveal both the coherence and the evolution of a vision that remained profoundly searching and never complacent.
