Wim Henderickx: Disappearing in Light

Inspiratum Commission and CD Fund, 2011

When at the start of the century composer and percussionist Wim Henderickx sounded a huge gong in a temple in Bouthanath, high up in the Nepalese Himalayas, inspiration for his Tantric Cycle flashed up in his mind.

In this music cycle, the composer interweaves seven compositions with the philosophy of Tantra, using the Shri Yantra mandala—an abstract geometric figure that helps Buddhists with meditation and the develop-ment of consciousness.
